REQUENA NOZAL, born in Zaragoza in 1947, studied music in Zaragoza, Valencia, Pamplona and Madrid. In 1977 he stopped being a professional musician and completely dedicated himself through self-taught means to the plastic arts. To perfect and gain new knowledge he travelled to France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, India, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, USA, Netherlands and the USSR.
In India, Egypt and the USSR, he performed technical studies on ancient painting of “encaustic art”, being one of the few painters in the world who worked in this technique, achieving success and praise in his many expositions for the peculiarity and beauty of his work.
Requena Nozal, who defines himself as a free and independent person and artist, having decided to withdraw himself from the larger cities and the aggressive competition of the artistic world. In 2002, his style and technique evolved, abandoning the “encaustic” and moving on to acrylics and other material.
In 1996, he was awarded with the New York City First Prize (Primer Premio Ciudad de New York).
